NorTek Medical Staffing is recruiting a Psychiatrist Medical Director for an established 140-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital in Valdosta, Georgia.
This physician leadership opportunity offers the chance to guide clinical excellence across a comprehensive behavioral health program serving children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. In addition to inpatient psychiatric services, the hospital also provides Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).
As Medical Director, you will provide strategic clinical leadership, support quality initiatives, collaborate with hospital administration, and remain actively involved in patient care. This role is ideal for a psychiatrist who enjoys mentoring clinicians, improving systems of care, and leading multidisciplinary teams while maintaining an active clinical presence.
The hospital has an established advanced practice provider (APP) model, with nurse practitioners delivering much of the day-to-day patient care. Job Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership:
Provide physician leadership for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services.
Promote clinical quality, patient safety, and evidence-based treatment standards.
Serve as the senior physician consultant for complex psychiatric cases.
Review treatment plans, medication strategies, and clinical outcomes.
Maintain involvement in direct patient care as needed.
Medical Staff Leadership:
Supervise, mentor, and support nurse practitioners and other advanced practice providers.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, therapists, social workers, and hospital administration.
Support recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development of medical staff.
Participate in medical staff meetings, peer review activities, and physician leadership initiatives.
Quality & Regulatory Oversight:
Support credentialing, utilization management, peer review, and regulatory compliance.
Help establish consistent clinical standards across child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric behavioral health services.
Collaborate with PHP and IOP leadership to provide physician guidance when appropriate.
Assist with risk management, clinical policy development, and quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
Practice Environment:
140-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Established multidisciplinary clinical team.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO degree.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
Active Georgia medical license or willingness to obtain one.
Active DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one.
Inpatient behavioral health experience.
Experience collaborating with or supervising advanced practice providers.
Strong physician leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
Comfortable providing care across child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Ability to complete credentialing and background screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Medical Director or physician leadership experience.
Experience within a large inpatient behavioral health hospital.
Experience leading APP-supported clinical teams.
Familiarity with acute psychiatric admissions and high-acuity patient populations.
Experience supporting Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs.
Experience with quality improvement, peer review, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
Working Hours
Full-time.
Monday through Friday.
