NorTek Medical Staffing is seeking a General Adult Psychiatrist to join an established 140-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital in Valdosta, Georgia.

This is a full-time attending psychiatrist position focused primarily on the hospital’s adult inpatient population. This role does not include Medical Director or executive leadership responsibilities, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality psychiatric care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

The hospital provides a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health services, including acute inpatient care, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). You'll work alongside experienced nurse practitioners, therapists, nurses, social workers, and hospital leadership to provide exceptional care for adults experiencing acute psychiatric conditions.

The Adult Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive inpatient psychiatric care, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and physician consultation for adult behavioral health patients.

Within the hospital's collaborative care model, nurse practitioners provide much of the routine day-to-day patient management, while psychiatrists serve as the physician resource for psychiatric evaluations, complex cases, medication oversight, consultation, and clinical decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
Provide ongoing psychiatric care for adult inpatients.
Manage psychiatric medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
Develop, review, and update individualized treatment plans.
Assess patient safety, psychiatric acuity, suicide risk, and discharge readiness.
Collaborate closely with nurse practitioners while providing physician-level clinical guidance and consultation.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
Support admissions, continued-stay reviews, and discharge planning.
Provide consultation for complex psychiatric and behavioral presentations.
Complete accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation.
Collaborate with nursing, therapists, social workers, advanced practice providers, and hospital leadership.
Support continuity of care between inpatient, PHP, and IOP services when appropriate.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO degree.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
Active Georgia medical license or willingness to obtain one.
Active DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one.
Comfortable treating adults in an acute inpatient setting.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Ability to complete credentialing and background screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous inpatient adult psychiatry experience.
Experience treating high-acuity psychiatric patients.
Experience collaborating with advanced practice providers.
Experience managing mood disorders, psychotic disorders, suicidality, substance use disorders, and behavioral crises.
Familiarity with Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs.
Strong communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.

Working Hours

Schedule:
Full-time.
Monday through Friday.
Inpatient behavioral health setting.
Weekend and call expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation:
Compensation Range: Saalry annually
Compensation will be based on experience, board certification status, and overall qualifications.
