Practice Setting
Providers will support an outpatient behavioral health program serving pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The practice emphasizes comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and individualized treatment planning.
Psychiatrists work closely with nurses, therapists, case managers, and clinical leadership to provide integrated mental health services tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Conduct mental status examinations (MSEs)
- Diagnose psychiatric conditions using DSM criteria
- Provide ongoing medication management
- Develop and oversee treatment plans
- Manage patients with co-occurring developmental and behavioral health conditions
- Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and case managers
- Provide consultation and clinical guidance to care teams
- Support families and caregivers through education and treatment planning
- Complete required documentation and medical records within the electronic health record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives when needed
- Prepare reports, assessments, and documentation as clinically appropriate
Schedule
12-16 Hours Per Week
Flexible scheduling options include:
- Two 8-hour shifts per week
- Three 4-hour shifts per week
- Two 6-hour shifts per week
- Other mutually agreed-upon schedules
Additional Details
- Clinic hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
- Must provide onsite coverage at least one day per week
- Telehealth may be utilized for a portion of patient care
- No call requirements
- No weekends
- Schedule remains consistent once established
Patient Volume & Support
- Approximately 6-10 patients during a full clinical day
- Combination of new evaluations and follow-up appointments
- Pediatric and adult patient population (ages 5+)
- Multidisciplinary support team
- Longitudinal patient relationships

Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
- Active California Medical License
- Active DEA Registration
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Ability to treat patients age 5 and older
- Eligibility for Medicare and Medi-Cal participation
- Current influenza vaccination or approved exemption
- Current COVID vaccination or approved exemption
Preferred
- Experience working with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Child and Adolescent Psychiatry experience
- Outpatient Psychiatry experience
- Telepsychiatry experience
- Experience working within multidisciplinary behavioral health teams
