Client is a modern, technology-driven behavioral health practice focused on improving access to high-quality psychiatric care while reducing the administrative burden placed on clinicians.
The organization is expanding its advanced interventional psychiatry programs, with a particular focus on treatment-resistant depression and Spravato (Esketamine) therapy, into the New Jersey market.
Client is seeking a Regional Medical Director to help establish and grow its regional clinical footprint, lead clinical staffing, provide medical oversight, and drive clinical governance and quality.
The Regional Medical Director will serve as a key clinical and executive leader for Client's New Jersey operations.
This role is designed around a 50/50 leadership and clinical care model:
50% Clinical Governance, Staffing & Leadership:
50% Advanced Interventional Psychiatry & Direct Patient Care
Client's corporate administrative infrastructure manages key non-clinical functions—including insurance prior authorizations, billing, scheduling, REMS compliance, marketing, and facilities management—allowing the Medical Director to focus primarily on clinical excellence, team development, patient care, and regional growth.

Job Responsibilities
1. Clinical Governance, Staffing & Management – 50%
Team Building & Recruitment:
Partner with corporate leadership to recruit, interview, select, and onboard psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and LCSWs.
Help build a high-performing multidisciplinary clinical team as Client expands its New Jersey presence.
Clinical Supervision & Mentorship:
Provide clinical oversight, mentorship, and case consultation for psychiatric providers and therapists.
Conduct regular chart reviews and support high standards of diagnostic and prescribing practices.
Promote consistent clinical standards across the regional team.
Regulatory & Compliance Leadership:
Serve as the local clinical authority for medical and psychiatric operations.
Ensure adherence to applicable state medical regulations, collaborative practice requirements, and clinical safety protocols.
Oversee clinical safety standards associated with interventional treatment modalities, including Spravato.
Quality Assurance:
Lead initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes and clinical quality.
Maintain strong standards for clinical documentation and patient safety.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous-learning environment.
2. Advanced Direct Patient Care – 50%
Interventional Psychiatry:
Evaluate and manage patients receiving Spravato (Esketamine) therapy within Client's specialized clinic environment.
Oversee clinical intake, treatment evaluation, and medical administration protocols for interventional psychiatry services.
Complex Psychopharmacology:
Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adult outpatient patients.
Deliver evidence-based medication management for individuals experiencing severe or treatment-resistant mood disorders.
Apply advanced clinical judgment to complex psychiatric presentations.
Coordinated Care:
Maintain an efficient and focused clinical schedule.
Collaborate closely with Client's therapists, psychiatric providers, and administrative coordinators to ensure coordinated patient care.
Qualifications
Education & Credentials
MD or DO degree.
Board Certification in Psychiatry.
Licensure:
Active, unrestricted medical license to practice in New Jersey.
Active DEA registration and applicable state-specific registrations.
Leadership Experience:
Demonstrated experience leading, managing, mentoring, or supervising multidisciplinary clinical teams.
Experience working with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, or similar behavioral health professionals.
Clinical Expertise:
Strong clinical knowledge of treatment-resistant depression and mood disorders.
Previous experience in interventional psychiatry is preferred, or a strong interest and willingness to lead an advanced interventional psychiatry program.
Strong understanding of evidence-based psychiatric diagnosis and medication management.
Technology & Innovation:
Comfortable working with cloud-based EHR systems and modern digital healthcare platforms.
Ability to effectively use secure asynchronous communication tools such as Slack.
Comfortable working within data-driven clinical workflows and technology-enabled healthcare environments.
Work Model:
Client's 50/50 hybrid model provides flexibility while maintaining meaningful on-site clinical leadership.
The Medical Director will:
Spend approximately half of their time on clinical governance, leadership, staffing, and regional development.
Dedicate the other half to specialized interventional psychiatric care.
Maintain dedicated on-site days at the Jersey City clinic for clinical collaboration and interventional oversight.
Utilize remote work periods for administrative leadership, strategic planning, and telehealth activities.
