A Client is seeking an experienced Inpatient Psychiatrist Medical Director for a 55-bed inpatient behavioral health program in Biloxi, Mississippi.
This opportunity is part of a Client contract transition, with the contract contingent upon securing the right physician. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing direct inpatient psychiatric care while also taking on Medical Director responsibilities and supporting the clinical transition of the program.
This is an excellent opportunity for a psychiatrist with strong inpatient experience who is interested in combining patient care, clinical leadership, and program oversight.

Job Responsibilities
Inpatient Psychiatric Care:
Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment for hospitalized patients.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
Lead psychiatric treatment planning and medication management.
Support acute stabilization and safe discharge planning.
Manage complex psychiatric presentations within a structured inpatient setting.
Medical Director Responsibilities:
Provide clinical leadership and Medical Director oversight for the program.
Collaborate with facility leadership to support effective psychiatric services.
Establish and maintain appropriate clinical standards and treatment practices.
Support provider collaboration, communication, and clinical decision-making.
Help ensure appropriate documentation, quality, and compliance standards are maintained.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
Work closely with nursing, therapists, case managers, social workers, and other clinical professionals.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
Provide clinical consultation and guidance to members of the treatment team.
Promote coordinated, patient-centered care across the inpatient program.
Program Transition & Development:
Help establish or transition psychiatric coverage for the facility.
Support the development of effective provider workflows and clinical processes.
Assist leadership in identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and continuity of care.
Contribute to a collaborative and clinically focused culture.
Qualifications
Required:
MD or DO with completed psychiatry training.
Experience providing psychiatric care in an inpatient behavioral health or hospital setting.
Ability to manage acute psychiatric presentations and provide medication management.
Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
Willingness to work on-site in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Ability to commit to a minimum of 3 days per week.
Preferred:
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
Previous Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, or senior attending experience.
Significant experience in acute inpatient psychiatry.
Experience leading multidisciplinary behavioral health teams.
Active Mississippi medical license, or willingness and ability to obtain one.
Schedule
Ideally a full-time commitment.
Minimum acceptable schedule of 3 days per week.
Final schedule can be structured around physician availability and program needs.
Call and weekend requirements are to be determined.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a clinically strong inpatient psychiatrist with leadership capabilities who can balance direct patient care with Medical Director responsibilities.
A physician with previous hospital-based leadership experience will be particularly well suited for this opportunity. The successful candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively with facility leadership and clinical teams while helping establish a stable, high-quality psychiatric program.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation is currently being finalized with the client and will be determined based on experience, schedule, and scope of Medical Director responsibilities.
