Position Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to provide locum tenens coverage for adult inpatient psychiatric services at Psychiatric Center in Brooklyn, New York. The physician will provide evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage while managing urgent psychiatric and medical needs of hospitalized adult patients.
The ideal candidate will have strong inpatient psychiatry experience, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies and acute behavioral situations.

Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric care to adult inpatient psychiatric patients.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications.
- Respond to urgent psychiatric and medical issues during assigned shifts.
- Manage acute behavioral emergencies and provide clinical leadership during behavioral and medical codes.
- Lead medical code responses when required.
- Provide evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage.
- Round on patients requiring elevated levels of observation, including 1:1 and Q15 monitoring.
- Write orders and clinical documentation supporting the continued need for elevated observation.
- Complete incident reports, restraint documentation, and seclusion paperwork as required.
- Assess patients requiring medical intervention and coordinate transfer to an outside emergency department when necessary.
- Provide treatment for urgent, first-aid-level medical concerns within the scope of the assignment.
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary staff to assess and address urgent patient needs.
Required Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- Minimum of three years of post-residency experience.
- Eligibility for full and unrestricted participation in Medicare and Medicaid.
- Active enrollment in New York State Medicaid.
- Current AHA BLS certification.
- Active professional malpractice insurance.
- Ability to complete all required site-specific orientation and TRUST training.
