Job description
Client is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric care within a secure correctional healthcare environment in Philadelphia. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by caring for an underserved adult population with complex behavioral health needs.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Psychiatrist will evaluate, diagnose, and treat individuals with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions, including serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, trauma-related conditions, and behavioral health crises. Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and collaboration with medical and behavioral health professionals.
Facility assignment will be based on operational needs within the Philadelphia correctional system.

Job Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations.
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic psychiatric disorders.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
Prescribe, adjust, and manage psychotropic medications.
Review laboratory results, medical histories, and collateral clinical information.
Assess suicide risk, self-harm risk, violence risk, and psychiatric decompensation.
Provide psychiatric crisis intervention and consultation.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and case review meetings.
Address medication and treatment refusals while recommending appropriate clinical interventions.
Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, advanced practice providers, and correctional staff.
Perform or assist with forensic psychiatric evaluations as needed.
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant electronic medical records.
Support behavioral health quality improvement initiatives.
Provide clinical supervision or mentorship when assigned.
Participate in scheduled call coverage as required.
Maintain compliance with all applicable security, HIPAA, PREA, OSHA, medication management, and controlled substance regulations.
Qualifications
Required:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
Active DEA registration or ability to obtain prior to start.
Experience evaluating and treating adult psychiatric patients.
Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and crisis intervention.
Ability to work onsite in a secure correctional healthcare environment.
Ability to successfully complete credentialing, background screening, and facility security clearance.
Excellent communication, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
Preferred:
Experience in one or more of the following:
Correctional healthcare
Forensic psychiatry
Inpatient or acute behavioral health
Serious mental illness treatment
Co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
Crisis stabilization
Clinical leadership or provider supervision
Collaboration with courts, correctional agencies, or governmental organizations
