Psychiatrist – Region 5 (Mental Health)

Location: Columbus, OH – 30 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215
Work Type: On-site / Travel between facilities
Schedule: Monday–Friday (No weekends or holidays; rare after-hours call)
Hours: 24–40 hours per week (typically closer to 40 hours)

Position Overview

The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment services across multiple facilities within Region 5. The role involves clinical care, medication management, psychotherapy, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams supporting individuals across all age groups (children, adolescents, and adults).

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of psychiatric and mental health conditions
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
• Provide psychotherapy and counseling interventions including psychoanalysis and behavioral therapy techniques
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and ongoing clinical reviews
• Monitor, supervise, and coordinate care provided by nursing, medical, and paraprofessional staff
• Review patient records for accuracy, completeness, and clinical quality standards
• Recommend improvements in clinical processes, staffing, and organizational workflows
• Participate in teaching, training, lectures, and seminars for healthcare professionals and staff
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and quality of psychiatric care
• Travel between assigned facilities as scheduled (travel plan provided in advance)
Minimum Qualifications
• Valid medical license to practice medicine under Ohio Revised Code Section 4731.13
• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program (AMA / AOA approved or equivalent)
• Recognition as a qualified Psychiatrist under Ohio State Medical Association or Ohio Osteopathic Association OR
• Minimum 5+ years of psychiatry-focused clinical practice as defined under Ohio Revised Code Section 5122.01(E)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of medicine, psychiatry, psychology, anatomy, physiology, and sociology
• Ability to diagnose complex psychiatric conditions and develop treatment plans
• Skill in prescribing and managing psychiatric medications safely and effectively
• Ability to analyze complex clinical information and make evidence-based decisions
• Strong communication skills for managing sensitive patient interactions
• Ability to work with high-risk patients in secure or community-based settings
