Job description
Seeking an Inpatient Psychiatrist for locum coverage in a hospital-based behavioral health unit in New Jersey. This role includes inpatient psychiatry with occasional consult-liaison (C/L) coverage in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inpatient Psychiatry:
Evaluate, manage, treat, and discharge patients on an inpatient psychiatric unit, including complex psychiatric conditions.
Consult-Liaison Coverage:
Provide consults to the medical hospital as needed, supporting interdisciplinary care.
Team Collaboration:
Work alongside physicians, APPs, fellows, nursing staff, therapists, social workers, and dieticians to coordinate patient care.
Supervision:
Collaborate with and oversee APPs as part of the care team when applicable.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Call required
- Hospital-based behavioral health unit
- EMR: Epic
Patient Volume:
- 12–14 patients per day
- Shared coverage of a 27-bed unit with another provider
- Additional support on a 20-bed unit with APP and fellow
Support Staff:
- APPs, fellows, physicians
- Nursing, therapists, social workers, dieticians
Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist
- Active New Jersey license required
- Experience managing complex psychiatric cases
