Job description

Job description

A well-established 140-bed behavioral health hospital in Georgia is seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to provide specialized psychiatric care to its older adult inpatient population.

This is a clinical attending position focused primarily on geriatric inpatient psychiatry, with no Medical Director or executive leadership responsibilities. The opportunity allows you to concentrate on delivering exceptional psychiatric care to older adults in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

The hospital offers a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health services, including acute inpatient care, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). You'll work alongside experienced nurse practitioners, therapists, nurses, social workers, and hospital leadership to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for older adults experiencing acute psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.

The Geriatric Psychiatrist will perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, manage medications, develop treatment plans, and provide physician-level consultation for hospitalized older adults with acute psychiatric illnesses.

Within the hospital's collaborative care model, nurse practitioners manage much of the routine day-to-day patient care, while psychiatrists serve as the physician resource for psychiatric evaluations, complex cases, medication oversight, consultation, and clinical decision-making.
