The Amarillo VA Medical Center is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Psychiatrist to become part of our compassionate and dynamic healthcare team. We are seeking a professional passionate about making a difference in the lives of our veterans through exceptional mental health care.

Job Responsibilities

• Evaluate and Diagnose: Conduct thorough evaluations, diagnoses, and consultations for adult patients presenting with a variety of mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders. These include but are not limited to psychoses, depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, adjustment disorders, behavior modification, and problems related to addiction and substance abuse (alcoholism and other drug dependencies, such as psychoactive drug use and addiction).
• Treatment and Consultation: Provide comprehensive treatment utilizing a wide range of psychological and social interventions, including medications, psychotherapy, family therapy, behavior modification, and emergency psychiatry.
• Perform Examinations: Conduct detailed History and Physical examinations to gain insights into patients' conditions and develop tailored treatment plans.
• Collaborate: Offer consultation services to physicians in other fields regarding mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders. Engage in multidisciplinary discussions to enhance patient care.
• Medication Management: Prescribe and manage pharmacotherapy, ensuring optimal medication regimens for patients.
• Order Diagnostics: Identify the need for, and order, appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests to support effective treatment planning.
