Description

We are seeking a Locum Tenens Adult Forensic Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services in an inpatient forensic setting in Rochester, NY. This is a minimum 6-month assignment with the possibility of extension, with a long-term need extending through December 31, 2030.

The position involves caring for patients on an inpatient forensic unit, primarily individuals with CPL 330.20, CPL 730, and 508 designations. Patient length of stay may range from several months to more than 5 years.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adult forensic inpatients
• Manage an inpatient forensic caseload of approximately 14–18 patients
• Provide ongoing psychiatric care for patients with competency and criminal procedure-related needs
• Participate in scheduled weekday clinical duties
• Provide additional on-call coverage as required
• Respond to clinical needs during occasional nights, weekends, and holidays
• Collaborate with the inpatient treatment team to support patient care

Qualifications

• ABPN General Psychiatry Board Certification – Required
• Forensic Psychiatry Board Certification – Preferred
• Active New York State medical license – Required
• NYS DEA Registration – Required
• New York State Medicaid Enrollment – Required
• Medicare Enrollment – Required
• Experience or interest in forensic inpatient psychiatry preferred

Working Hours

• 40 hours per week
• Monday–Friday
• 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
• Up to 16 additional on-call hours per week
• On-call coverage may include occasional:
  • Nights
  • Weekends
  • Holidays
• Assignment Term: 6 months with possibility to extend
