Job description

We are seeking a qualified Psychiatrist to provide weekday mental health coverage in Madison County, Illinois (St. Louis Metro Area – Illinois). This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, totaling 37.5 hours per week. The schedule is 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct timely psychiatric evaluations upon admission and patient transfer

Provide ongoing medication management and document clinical rationale for treatment changes

Complete required reports, including 90-day, fitness, and NGRI evaluations

Monitor and review seclusion and restraint cases

Meet monthly with patients to review treatment plans and progress

Provide court testimony as required (e.g., commitment, fitness, involuntary medication)

Participate in committee meetings, peer review, and continuing education

Maintain compliance with facility, departmental, and state regulations

Provide clinical leadership in the management of assigned patients

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted Illinois Medical License

Current, unrestricted Illinois Controlled Substance License

Active DEA registration

Experience working with psychiatric patient populations

Working Hours

Monday–Friday
37.5 hours per week

Skills

Strong diagnostic and clinical assessment skills

Expertise in psychopharmacology and medication management

Ability to prepare clear, timely, and thorough clinical documentation

Knowledge of forensic psychiatry processes (fitness, NGRI, commitment proceedings)

Effective communication and courtroom testimony skills

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
