NorTek Medical Staffing is seeking a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join an established 140-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital in Valdosta, Georgia.
This is a full-time attending psychiatrist position focused exclusively on the hospital's child and adolescent patient population. This role does not include Medical Director or executive leadership responsibilities, allowing you to focus on delivering exceptional psychiatric care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
The hospital provides a full continuum of behavioral health services, including acute inpatient care, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), supporting continuity of care beyond hospitalization.
Working alongside experienced nurse practitioners, therapists, nurses, social workers, and hospital leadership, you will play a vital role in the evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of children and adolescents experiencing acute psychiatric conditions.
The Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and physician-level consultation for hospitalized pediatric behavioral health patients.
Within the hospital's collaborative care model, nurse practitioners provide much of the routine day-to-day patient management, while psychiatrists serve as the physician resource for psychiatric evaluations, complex cases, medication oversight, consultation, and clinical decision-making.

Job Responsibilities
Complete comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
Provide ongoing psychiatric care for child and adolescent inpatients.
Manage psychiatric medications and monitor treatment response.
Develop, review, and update individualized treatment plans.
Assess patient safety, psychiatric acuity, suicide risk, and discharge readiness.
Collaborate closely with nurse practitioners while providing physician-level clinical guidance and consultation.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and authorized family members.
Support admissions, continued-stay reviews, and discharge planning.
Provide consultation for complex psychiatric and behavioral presentations.
Complete accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation.
Collaborate with nursing, therapists, social workers, advanced practice providers, and hospital leadership.
Support continuity of care between inpatient, PHP, and IOP services when appropriate.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO degree.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency.
Completion of an accredited Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
Active Georgia medical license or willingness to obtain one.
Active DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one.
Comfortable treating children and adolescents in an acute inpatient setting.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Ability to complete credentialing and background screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry experience.
Experience caring for high-acuity pediatric psychiatric patients.
Experience collaborating with advanced practice providers.
Experience managing patients with suicidal ideation, self-harm, aggression, mood disorders, and behavioral crises.
Familiarity with Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs.
Strong communication skills with families and caregivers during acute episodes.
Working Hours
Full-time.
Monday through Friday.
Inpatient behavioral health setting.
Weekend and call expectations to be discussed during the interview process.
