- Scope of Work: Staff Psychiatrist
- Location: Westland MI
- Compensation Rate: $230, flexible time off, provided malpractice insurance upon hire
- Available Shifts/Options: Mon – Fri 8- 4:30 - no weekends, no holidays, no after hours on-call)
- Facility Type: Inpatient hospital, mental health facility-civil
- Average Caseload: 14-18 pts per shift
- Total Beds/Units: TBD
Duties may include:
- Conduct initial psychiatric assessments for patients upon admission according to mandated protocol.
- Provide medication management and adjustments to patients as necessary.
- Conduct follow-up assessments and annual summaries per hospital protocol, adjusting treatment plans accordingly, and provide clinical supervision of behavior treatment plans.
- Participate in case reviews, diagnosis, and treatment planning meetings for patients.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding psychiatric care.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and medication orders in electronic medical record (EMR) accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Participate in discharge planning, finalizing the paperwork relevant to discharges, and document under the patient’s record in the electronic medical records system.
- Psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Screening of patients for admission to the hospital.
- Provide court testimony, as necessary.
- Provide direct academic supervision of the treatment team members including psychiatry residents, child psychiatry residents, and students from other clinical disciplines.
- Participate in Medical Staff directed performance improvement activities and peer reviews.
- Perform all other duties consistent with the practitioners’ scope of practice necessary to provide appropriate and necessary treatment, care, and services to patients provided that those duties appropriately reflect State Hospital Administration policies and hospital procedures
Qualifications:
- A medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited school of medicine and Board Certified or Board Eligible.
- One year experience as a pediatric psychiatrist in a mental health clinic, correctional facility, or inpatient psychiatric hospital.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and the treatment team.
- Ability to work independently and make clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- A valid Michigan license
- DEA license to prescribe controlled substances.
- Must possess a Michigan Controlled Substance License.
