Job description
- Speciality: Child Psychiatrist
- Company: Sonoma County - Human Services
- Location: Valley of the Moon Children’s Center (Remote)
- Type of position:1099 - locums contract
- Start Date: June 24, 2024 (training); July 1, 2024 (program launch)
- Duration: Initial 6 months, ideally renewable for an additional 6 months
- Weekly Hours:20 hours (flexible, including weekends)
- Hourly Pay:$240/hour
- Patient Volume: Up to 16 patients per month
- EMR System: SmartCare
- Support Staff: Two onsite behavioral health clinicians, onsite residential care counselors, medication room run by RN
Job Responsibilities
• Address issues such as ADHD, anxiety, Tourette’s Syndrome, and eating disorders.
• Diagnose mental and affective conditions.
• Develop treatment plans, including therapies, counseling, and appropriate psychiatric medication.
• Assist patients in coping with difficult situations.
• Educate family members or guardians on supporting patients.
• Consult with social services and court systems.
• Engage in continuing education activities.
Qualifications
• Certification in general psychiatry and licensure in child psychiatry.
• Knowledge of and experience in clinical skills.
• Empathetic nature with excellent listening and communication skills.
• Ability to work under intense pressure and respond to difficult questions.
• Strong note-taking and record-keeping skills.
