Position Overview
An established behavioral health program in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and direct patient care across adult inpatient psychiatry, detox, and residential behavioral health services.
This opportunity is ideal for a psychiatrist who enjoys combining hands-on patient care with clinical leadership, quality improvement, and program development. The facility will initially operate in deemed status, with a gradual census ramp as services and clinical operations expand.
The organization offers flexibility for a physician to begin part-time and transition to full-time within approximately two months, or to start full-time immediately.

Job Responsibilities
Deliver psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and clinical stabilization.
Provide direct patient care across adult inpatient psychiatry, detox, and residential programs.
Participate in admissions, discharges, treatment planning, and clinical reviews.
Oversee clinical quality, patient safety, treatment outcomes, and appropriate standards of care.
Support the development of clinical workflows, treatment protocols, and operational processes as the program grows.
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, case management, facility leadership, and other multidisciplinary team members.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical performance reviews, regulatory compliance, and accurate medical documentation.
Support census growth and consistent clinical standards across service lines.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
Colorado medical license preferred; candidates willing and able to obtain licensure may be considered.
Strong experience in inpatient psychiatry.
Previous Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Chief Psychiatrist, or senior attending experience preferred.
Experience in one or more of the following preferred:
Adult inpatient psychiatry
Detoxification services
Residential behavioral health
Dual-diagnosis treatment
Substance use disorders
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and facility leadership.
Comfortable supporting a developing program with an initially lower census and anticipated growth.
