Opportunity: Program Director – Adult Psychiatry Residency
The facility is seeking a Program Director for its Adult Psychiatry Residency Program. This leader will oversee program operations, educational innovation, and curriculum development, while ensuring compliance with all accreditation standards. The Program Director will work in close collaboration with the Associate Program Director, GME leadership, and medical school committees. This role is divided evenly between administrative and clinical responsibilities (approximately 50/50).
Job Details:
- Provide oversight of the Adult Psychiatry Residency to ensure compliance with ACGME and RRC standards
- Collaborate with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), GME leadership, and medical school committees
- Direct program operations across clinical rotations, didactics, psychotherapy training, advising, research, and scholarly activities
- Ensure a comprehensive and high-quality educational experience for residents
- Develop and deliver innovative models of psychiatric education
- Lead strategic planning for graduate medical education
- Promote resident well-being, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- Manage recruitment, orientation, evaluations, duty hours, and professional development
- Coordinate with affiliated training sites to ensure consistent quality and compliance
- Provide direct clinical supervision of residents in outpatient psychiatry
- Serve as a national leader in advancing training models within psychiatric education
Qualifications:
- Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
- Eligible for an unrestricted New York State medical license
- Minimum 3–5 years of faculty experience in academic psychiatry
- Prior leadership experience in graduate medical education preferred (e.g., Program Director, Associate Program Director, or core faculty)
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and scholarly activity
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education
