Opportunity: Outpatient Psychiatrist
This position is primarily outpatient, with occasional hospital coverage as needed. The psychiatrist will be responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, and follow-up care of psychiatric patients. The role also includes consultation to non-psychiatric physicians and supervision of non-medical clinical staff.
Job Details:
- Outpatient psychiatry with periodic inpatient coverage
- Provide diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy
- Offer psychiatric consultation to physicians, physician assistants, and non-medical clinical staff
- Participate in teaching of medical students and residents
- Obtain and maintain buprenorphine prescribing privileges
- Shared call responsibilities as scheduled by the Medical Director
- Participate in clinical program development, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities
- Ensure timely documentation in compliance with institutional standards and treatment guidelines
- Make referrals and coordinate with inpatient services, emergency rooms, and outside agencies for continuity of care
- Provide clinical supervision to non-medical clinical staff involved in shared patient care
- Adhere to institutional policies, safety standards, and infection control guidelines
Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- Eligible for a New York State medical license
- Experience in outpatient psychiatry preferred
- Interest in community psychiatry and teaching medical students/residents a plus
