Qualifications
  • Any State License
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • At least two (2) years of experience
  • Have a current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.

Scope of Care:

Contract physician(s) shall provide Psychiatry care, including Physical Assessment, Psychiatric Evaluations, Psychotherapy, Pharmacotherapy, Consultation, Clinical Supervision, General Medical Condition Care, Group and Family Therapy, Treatment Team meetings, Discharge Planning, and referral to specialty care. They will also perform histories and physicals, prescribe medications, order tests, complete timely documentation, evaluate outpatients for medication, and have DEA licensing for Buprenorphine and Clozapine.

QA/QI Documentation:

Contract physician(s) will complete necessary Quality Management/Performance Improvement (QM/PI) documentation for all procedures, complications, and examination outcomes.

Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting:

Contract physician(s) will adhere to patient safety and infection control standards, striving to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injuries. They will report all events related to patient safety, medication errors, and breaches to the COR as per the VANIHCS Patient Safety Policy, notifying the COR within 24 hours of incidents and submitting Patient Safety Reports promptly.

Service Provision:

Contract physician(s) will provide inpatient/outpatient and Urgent Care psychiatric services to new and established VA patients. This includes acute, rehabilitative, and long-term treatment, comprehensive psychiatric services for eligible Veterans, and outpatient care for diagnosing mental disorders, medication evaluation, psychiatric assessments, and adjunctive interventions for medical disorders.

Physician Qualifications:

All Contract physicians must be board eligible or board certified in psychiatry with an unrestricted license in any US State, Territory, or the District of Columbia. They will be reviewed by the VA Chief of Staff and must possess American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider certification and basic computer skills.
