A healthcare system in Queens is actively seeking a patient-oriented Behavioral Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) to work in one of their outpatient facilities. In this role, the Behavioral Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide high quality professional Behavioral Health services.
Responsibilities
The Behavioral Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP):
- Performs psychiatric and physical assessments
- Assesses the psychiatric needs and medical conditions that may impact psychiatric conditions for patients
- Initiates drug therapy
- Provides individual and family psychotherapy services when required or requested by patients and families
- Requests necessary laboratory work for patients on special medications that require frequent monitoring of levels in the blood stream to guard against toxicity
- Assumes preceptor roles and other supervision responsibilities for Nurse Practitioner students
- Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultation, and laboratory examinations
- Provides pharmacotherapy and routine medical evaluation and treatment for patients
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- New York State-licensed/Registered Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- 5+ years’ experience relevant to specialty area preferable in a private practice setting
- National Board Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with prescription privileges
- Current CPR and ELS Certification
