An outstanding opportunity is available for a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to serve as Medical Director at an established inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut.

This leadership role combines hands-on inpatient rehabilitation medicine with clinical leadership, quality improvement, physician mentorship, and program development. Join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to helping patients regain independence and achieve meaningful functional outcomes.

Compensation: $400,000–$500,000, with potential additional incentives based on experience and qualifications.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive inpatient PM&R care, including admissions, consultations, daily rounds, and individualized rehabilitation plans.
Treat patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic trauma, neurological disorders, amputations, and other complex conditions.
Lead interdisciplinary rehabilitation team conferences and collaborate with nursing, therapy, case management, and consulting specialists.
Oversee clinical quality, patient safety, and evidence-based rehabilitation practices.
Develop and enhance clinical policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives.
Support compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and inpatient rehabilitation facility standards.
Mentor physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
Contribute to physician recruitment, retention, and rehabilitation program growth.
Perform or oversee appropriate rehabilitation procedures, including pain and spasticity management, diagnostic injections, and EMG/NCS when applicable.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Completion of an accredited PM&R residency.
Connecticut medical license or eligibility for licensure.
Active DEA registration or ability to obtain one before employment.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years of experience in an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF).
Previous experience as a Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Chief of PM&R, or similar physician leader.
Experience leading interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams.
Knowledge of CMS regulations, IRF-PAI documentation, Joint Commission standards, and rehabilitation quality metrics.
Experience with EMG/NCS, spasticity management, Botox injections, ultrasound-guided injections, or musculoskeletal procedures.
