PM&R Medical Director – Inpatient Rehabilitation | Clinical Leadership
A premier Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) in the Augusta metropolitan area is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician to serve as Medical Director.
This unique opportunity combines an active inpatient rehabilitation practice with physician leadership. The Medical Director will help guide clinical initiatives, collaborate with hospital administration and multidisciplinary teams, support quality and compliance efforts, and contribute to continued program development.
The position is designed for a PM&R physician who enjoys both direct patient care and clinical leadership.

Job Responsibilities
Managing daily inpatient rounds.
Developing individualized rehabilitation treatment plans.
Performing functional and neuromuscular assessments.
Managing pain and spasticity.
Caring for medically complex rehabilitation patients.
Performing EMG/NCS studies when applicable.
Performing diagnostic or therapeutic injections when applicable.
Managing appropriate spasticity interventions.
Preventing and managing secondary rehabilitation complications.
Coordinating care with consulting physicians.
Collaborating with nursing, therapy, case management, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
The Medical Director will provide clinical leadership by:
Leading interdisciplinary rehabilitation team conferences.
Partnering with executive leadership on clinical initiatives.
Developing and implementing clinical policies and best practices.
Supporting quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Supporting compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and IRF requirements.
Mentoring physicians and multidisciplinary clinical staff.
Supporting physician recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
Participating in strategic program development.
Supporting community outreach and referral relationships.
Helping advance clinical quality and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited PM&R residency program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Current or eligible medical licensure in the applicable state.
DEA registration or ability to obtain.
Strong clinical skills in inpatient rehabilitation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered rehabilitation care.
Ability and interest in physician leadership.
