Job description
A nationally recognized rehabilitation organization is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to serve as Medical Director of an established inpatient rehabilitation program in the Huntington Area.
This unique opportunity combines an active inpatient PM&R practice with physician leadership responsibilities. The Medical Director will help shape clinical strategy, support quality initiatives, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the continued growth of the rehabilitation program.
The physician will partner with executive leadership, nursing, therapy, case management, consulting physicians, and other clinical professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation care.
Job Responsibilities
Perform admission evaluations, histories, and physical examinations
Manage daily inpatient rounds
Develop individualized rehabilitation treatment plans
Conduct functional and neuromuscular assessments
Manage pain and spasticity
Manage medically complex rehabilitation patients
Perform EMG/NCS studies when applicable
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic injections when applicable
Prevent secondary rehabilitation complications
Collaborate with consulting physicians
Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
Medical Director Responsibilities
Lead interdisciplinary rehabilitation team conferences
Partner with executive leadership on clinical and operational initiatives
Develop and implement clinical policies and best practices
Drive quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Support compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and IRF standards
Mentor physicians and multidisciplinary clinical staff
Assist with physician recruitment, onboarding, and retention
Support strategic program growth
Participate in community outreach and referral development
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Completion of an accredited PM&R residency
Active Ohio medical license or eligibility to obtain
DEA registration or ability to obtain
Strong leadership and communication skills
Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered rehabilitation care
Working Hours
Active inpatient PM&R practice
Combination of clinical and Medical Director responsibilities
Interdisciplinary rehabilitation conferences
No traditional call schedule
