Job description
The company is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist to deliver high-quality outpatient psychiatric care and behavioral health integration. The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, emergency support, and consultative care for the company's patients. Additionally, this role collaborates closely with the multidisciplinary Behavioral Health (BH) team to support integrated care models, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and community-based resources.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
Provide ongoing medication management and therapeutic support for patients requiring extended psychiatric care.
Offer both formal and informal ("curbside") behavioral health consultations to primary care and BH team members.
Deliver outpatient emergency psychiatric care during contracted hours and facilitate inpatient hospitalizations when necessary.
Educate patients and their families on psychiatric diagnoses, treatment plans, and medication management.
Complete disability questionnaires and required clinical documentation in a timely, accurate manner.
Connect indigent patients with prescription assistance programs to ensure access to affordable medication.
Refer patients to appropriate community resources, including vocational rehabilitation and social services.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
Lead regular BH team meetings to coordinate integrated patient care and support MAT programming.
Conduct regular clinical supervision and systematic evaluations of patient care and documentation.
Provide ongoing consultation, feedback, and education to assist team members with diagnosis and treatment strategies.
Assist in developing and updating psychiatric policies, protocols, and clinical programs.
Participate in staff performance evaluations, job description reviews, and clinic schedule management to optimize patient coverage.
Organizational & Administrative Duties
Maintain target productivity standards and complete clinical documentation efficiently.
Participate in health center problem-solving groups, departmental meetings, and committee work.
Contribute to community public health activities and represent the company with external stakeholders, grant agencies, and professional organizations.
Qualifications
MD or DO: Graduation from an accredited medical school and successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency program (Required).
Licensure: Unrestricted license to practice medicine as a Physician/Surgeon in the State of Missouri (Required).
Certifications: Board Certification in Psychiatry (Required).
Registrations: Active DEA and Missouri BNDD registrations (Required).
Enrollments: Active Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers (Required).
Skills
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in psychiatry (Required).
Setting: Prior experience or a strong commitment to working in an urban, community health center setting (Preferred).
Specialty Engagement: Active membership and participation in relevant medical specialty societies (Preferred).
Core Competencies: Strong clinical practice skills, practice management capabilities, effective communication, conflict resolution, and collaborative leadership skills.
