Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician – Illinois

We are seeking a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician for a full-time, ongoing locum opportunity in Illinois. This position offers a consistent Monday–Friday inpatient schedule within a hospital-based rehabilitation unit, with a manageable daily census and Hospitalist support for additional medical management.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Full-time coverage
• Wednesday staff meeting at 7:30 AM

Practice Setting

• Hospital-based inpatient rehabilitation unit
• 11-bed rehab unit
• 134-bed hospital
• Approximately 8–10 patients per day
• May provide acute-care consultations to determine appropriateness for inpatient rehab admission
• Epic EMR

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient rehabilitation care
• Routine medical management of rehabilitation patients
• Evaluate acute-care patients for potential admission to the rehab unit
• Joint injections
• Baclofen pump management
• Bread-and-butter inpatient PM&R services

Support Staff

• Hospitalists available to assist with additional medical management

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited PM&R residency or qualifying combined residency
• Current certification or active participation in the certification process through ABPMR or AOBPMR, with certification achieved within five years
• Active Illinois medical license required
• DEA required
• CSR required
• ACLS required
• 1–2 years of experience preferred
• Recent inpatient rehabilitation experience required

Credentialing

• Standard credentialing timeframe is approximately 90 days
• Emergency privileges may be available within a few days

A PM&R Physician with recent inpatient rehabilitation experience who is comfortable managing adult rehab patients, performing common PM&R procedures, and collaborating with Hospitalists.
