Contract Length: Total of 11 weeks of coverage
Shift Details: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Coverage Dates:
• November 1-14
• December 19-January 3
• February 1-21
Practice Setting: Inpatient Rehabilitation
Board Certification: PM&R board certified or board eligible
State License Required: Active Washington state license
Minimum Experience Required: Residency required
Work Details:
General inpatient rehabilitation
Primary need is management of inpatient rehab beds
Provider may finish their patient work early but must remain available until 5:00 PM to supervise residents and assist with admissions as needed
Rehabilitation-based with no surgical component
No EMGs
Support Staff: Trainees/residents are involved in the service
Patients Per Day: Approximately 12 inpatients per day
Patient Population/Age: Adults 18+
EMR: Epic
Department Description:
• Inpatient rehabilitation unit
• Patient mix is approximately 30% stroke, 30% brain injury, and 30% spinal cord injury
• Unit admits approximately 30-40 patients per month, with each attending managing approximately half of that volume
• PM&R team serves as the primary medical service
• Patient population can have significant medical and social complexity
• Many patients do not have a clear discharge plan
• Regional Level 1 Trauma Center
• Providers do manage patients on ventilators
Skills Required:
• General inpatient rehabilitation experience
• Comfortable managing approximately 12 inpatient beds per day
• Comfortable supervising residents/trainees
• Comfortable managing medically and socially complex patients
• Spinal cord injury or brain injury fellowship training is a bonus, but not required
• Preference may be given to providers who are comfortable with a private practice pace
