A private practice in Queens/Brooklyn, NY is seeking a physiatrist to join their team.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Setting: Outpatient
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed history and physical examinations to diagnose musculoskeletal, neurological, and neuromuscular disorders resulting from injuries.
- Evaluate the patient's functional status, assessing their mobility, strength, and ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Develop and oversee comprehensive, patient-centered, non-surgical treatment plans aimed at restoring function, reducing pain, and maximizing independence.
- Prescribe and monitor various rehabilitation modalities, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other allied health services.
- Perform a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to manage pain and improve function.
- Perform and interpret Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) to diagnose nerve and muscle disorders such as radiculopathy, peripheral neuropathy, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Coordinate care and collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals.
- Prescribe necessary assistive devices, orthotics (braces/splints), and mobility aids to enhance the patient's functional independence.
- Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely electronic medical records (EMR) documenting examination results, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedural notes, and patient outcomes.
- Provide necessary medical reports and communication for legal, insurance, and worker's compensation requirements related to trauma and injury cases.
- Educate patients and families on their condition, expected recovery course, self-management techniques, and injury prevention strategies.
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York
- Board Certified/Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
