What You Will Do

The physician provides and manages direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, procedures, and ongoing care for patients within their area of expertise.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide and manage direct patient care, including examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment.
• Prescribe medications and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
• Refer patients to specialists and other patient care services as appropriate.
• Educate, train, and supervise medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
• Participate in the daily operations of medical programs, patient care units, or research activities, as applicable.
• Direct and coordinate patient care activities with nursing and support staff as required.
• Follow established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement objectives, and safety and infection control standards.
• Participate in health promotion, patient education, and prevention programs, as appropriate.
• Maintain departmental productivity expectations.
• Maintain faculty status in good standing with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, if applicable.
• Adhere to core physician obligations as outlined in the Physician Policy Manual.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Comply with all organizational policies and standards, including requirements related to the safe and secure maintenance of Protected Health Information (PHI).

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
• Eligibility for an academic appointment with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine at a level commensurate with experience.

Training & Experience

• Completion of appropriate residency and fellowship training, as required for the specialty.
• Board certified or board eligible in the applicable medical specialty.

Licensure & Certification

• Eligible for or currently holds an unrestricted State of Ohio medical license.
• Federal DEA certification, as applicable.
• Required specialty licensure and/or certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment within the physician’s area of expertise.
• Knowledge of legal and ethical standards related to the delivery of medical care.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
• Ability to supervise, mentor, and educate clinical professionals, residents, and/or medical students.
• Knowledge of relevant medications and non-pharmaceutical treatment options.
• Ability to develop and present educational programs and workshops.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of applicable accreditation and certification requirements.
• Ability to effectively observe, assess, document, and communicate patient symptoms, reactions, treatment plans, and progress.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
