Job description Pediatric opening in Texas Full time Houston, TX Position Type: Full-Time Compensation: Salary based on experience Role Overview Provide comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents Diagnose, treat, and help prevent pediatric illnesses and injuries Monitor growth and development through routine evaluations Deliver both preventive care and chronic disease management Serve a diverse, community-based patient population Key Responsibilities Perform physical exams, patient histories, and diagnostic evaluations Diagnose and treat: Acute illnesses (e.g., infections, flu, pneumonia) Chronic and complex pediatric conditions Administer immunizations and preventive care services Prescribe medications and therapies per clinical guidelines Educate families on: Nutrition, hygiene, and safety Disease prevention and wellness Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans Maintain accurate documentation and close charts within 48 hours Refer patients to specialists when needed Additional Duties Participate in: Quality improvement and compliance initiatives Community outreach and health education programs Peer review and clinical team collaboration Supervise medical students and residents when assigned Participate in on-call rotation and Saturday clinics Work across multiple clinic sites as needed Qualifications MD or DO from an accredited medical school Completed pediatric residency training Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics (within 2 years if BE) Active, unrestricted Texas Medical License Current DEA registration BLS & PALS certification required Understanding of Texas mandated reporting laws Experience Pediatric or community health experience preferred New graduates welcome Preferred Skills Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.) Strong communication, public speaking, and patient education skills Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations Practice Environment Mission-driven community health center (FQHC) Focus on underserved populations and preventive care Collaborative, team-based clinical setting Opportunities for community engagement and outreach Highlights Broad-scope pediatric practice (acute, chronic, preventive care) Strong community impact and mission focus Supportive, team-oriented culture Teaching opportunities with students and residents
