Start Date: ASAP Position Type: Permanent, full-time Position Details

• Location Requirement: Local candidates only; must reside within the immediate local area. Relocation may be required.

Position Highlights

• 6-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

• Level III NICU support

• Telephone consultation available with a quaternary care center located approximately 45 minutes away

• Responsibilities include inpatient pediatric floor coverage and emergency department consultations

• In-house coverage during the day with home call at night

• Flexible call schedule designed to support work-life balance and personal needs

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage pediatric inpatient and PICU patients

• Provide emergency department consultations

• Perform procedures, including:

  • Intubations

  • Lumbar punctures (LPs)

  • Line and chest tube placement

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive pediatric care

Patient Volume

• 2024 pediatric admissions: 373

• 2024 PICU admissions: 85

• Average daily census (ADC): 4.1

Teaching Opportunities

• Participate in teaching through a Family Medicine Residency Program, currently in its third year

• Residents participate approximately half the year, with a schedule of 4.5 days per week

Subspecialty Support

• Level III NICU support for the referral base

• On-site Pediatric Surgery

• Gastroenterology (GI)

• Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT)

• Anesthesia

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible within five years of residency in Pediatric Critical Care or Pediatric Cardiology with an additional year of CICU training, or double-boarded in Pediatric Critical Care and Cardiology

• Active South Carolina medical license

• Local candidate required

• Active DEA registration

• Active CSR/CDS license
