Locums Pediatric Hospitalist - Gilbert AZ - Part time option available

Schedule & Call:

• Varied shift schedule (Day, Evening, and Overnight options available)
  
• Newborn Side (Primary Need): 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Acute Care Pediatric Side: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  
• Overnight Coverage: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Covers both Newborn and Pediatric sides)
  
• Minimum commitment: 4 shifts per month required (Full-time coverage up to 3–4 FTE available)
• No call requirement (100% in-house coverage; no weeknight or weekend call)

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide 100% inpatient hospitalist care for healthy newborns and pediatric patients (50% newborn nursery / 50% acute care pediatrics)
  
• Daily patient volume: 10–20 healthy newborns (nursery only; no deliveries or NICU) and 10–14 acute care pediatric patients (no PICU coverage)
  
• Perform lumbar punctures (required for pediatric floor care); circumcisions are optional
  
• Participate in intermittent teaching of residents (no formal leadership duties)
  
• Supported by in-house Emergency Department, PICU team, and women’s/children’s tower resources

Requirements:

• Board Certified in Pediatrics (or truly Board Eligible)
  
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience post-residency, including at least 1 year of pediatric hospitalist or newborn care experience
  
• Active Arizona state medical license and Arizona DEA registration
  
• Active AHA BLS and AHA PALS certifications
  
• Clean background and clean malpractice history required (no exceptions)
  
• Capability to perform required procedures (Lumbar Punctures)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Allscripts or Cerner EMR systems preferred

Additional Details:

• Practice setting: Inpatient Hospital / Level IV Trauma Center
  
• EMR: Allscripts (Pediatric side) and Cerner (Newborn side; transitioning to Epic)
