Job description
We are seeking a Locum Pediatric Hospitalist Physician for 24 hour call coverage in Florence, OR. This is an inpatient pediatric and neonatal focused opportunity providing coverage for deliveries, newborn admissions & pediatric patients.
Coverage is needed for 14–21 days per month, with the assignment currently approved through January 14, 2027. The physician will work 24 hour call shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM and must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital throughout the call period.
Tele neonatology support is available, allowing the physician to work independently while having additional neonatal support when needed.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide inpatient care for neonatal & pediatric patients
• Attend deliveries as required
• Admit newborns after delivery
• Evaluate & manage pediatric patients
• Perform neonatal resuscitation when required
• Provide inpatient consultations
• Respond to urgent clinical needs during call
• Complete patient documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate with nursing staff & other healthcare professionals
• Work independently with tele neonatology support available
Qualifications
• Board Certified in Pediatrics or Family Practice
• Active Oregon medical license required
• NRP certification required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Demonstrated pediatric or family medicine clinical activity within the previous 24 months
• Appropriate case logs, training logs, or quality profiles may be required during credentialing
• Candidates without an Oregon license may be considered if the licensing ETA is reasonable
• Candidates seeking a start in October must have an Oregon license in hand due to credentialing requirements
Working Hours
• 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
• Day, night & weekend coverage
• 14–21 days of coverage required per month
• Approximately 6–7 births per month
• Anticipated callback volume of approximately 1–2 nights per week
• Average daily census of approximately 1 patient
• Physician must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call
• 4 hours of included gratis time per 24 hour call shift
• 8 hours of initial orientation
