🌴 Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Faculty Opportunity – Academic Center on the Gulf Coast

An established academic health system along the Gulf Coast is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Hematology/Oncology physician to join a growing pediatric department dedicated to advanced care, education, and research. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated physician who enjoys teaching and wants to practice within a supportive, expanding division that serves as the primary pediatric referral center for the region.

Position Overview
This academic center is transforming pediatric care across the Gulf Coast, offering patients access to innovative treatments, comprehensive subspecialty services, and modern pediatric facilities. The incoming physician will play a key role in clinical care, resident and medical student education, scholarly activity, and program development within the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology service. Responsibilities Include:

Teaching (Didactic):
• Deliver lectures, grand rounds, and classroom instruction for medical students, pediatric residents, and nursing staff
• Teach within the medical school curriculum using varied methods (lecture, demonstration, case-based discussion)
• Prepare educational materials, recommended readings, and support academic program development

Teaching (Clinical):
• Supervise and instruct residents, students, and multidisciplinary team members in clinic and inpatient settings
• Guide the pediatric heme/onc team in evidence-based care, disease-specific management, procedures, and treatment strategies
• Teach and perform pediatric procedures such as lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy/aspiration, and chemotherapy administration

Research & Scholarly Activity:
• Mentor residents and medical students on research planning and execution
• Conduct clinical or translational research in pediatric hematology/oncology
• Present findings at national/international meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals

Clinical Care:
• Diagnose and treat children with cancer, sickle cell disease, anemias, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and other hematologic/oncologic conditions
• Order and interpret diagnostic testing and imaging
• Administer chemotherapy and guide families on treatment, prevention, and supportive care

Administrative/Program Leadership:
• Participate in pediatric heme/onc program development, including outpatient and inpatient service optimization
• Assist with sickle cell registry planning
• Engage in departmental and institutional committees related to education, research, and clinical operations
