Psychologists in child acute care contribute clinical expertise in the areas of assessment, treatment, and program development, supporting high-quality care for youth and families with significant behavioral health needs within an interdisciplinary acute care setting.
Key Responsibilities
Psychologists in child acute care contribute clinical expertise in the areas of assessment, treatment, and program development, supporting high-quality care for youth and families with significant behavioral health needs within an interdisciplinary acute care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides individualized psychological consultation and assessment to support behavioral intervention planning across Child Acute units, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs, in collaboration with Master ’s-level Behavioral Health Therapists and interdisciplinary treatment teams
- Contributes to the training and professional development of direct-care staff in implementing evidence-based behavioral strategies across the inpatient setting
- Functions as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary care team, including psychiatrists, pediatricians, advanced practice providers, therapists, behavioral health technicians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, nurses, medical residents, and support staff
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Clinical experience and advanced competencies in acute psychiatric care
- Competency in administration, scoring, report writing, and feedback of psychological assessments (intellectual, adaptive, executive, academic, symptom-specific, and personality measures)
- Competency in evidence-based treatments including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of behavioral health concerns
- Experience in integrated care settings
- Experience in research, research training, or program development
Education Requirements
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.): Psychology
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
- Licensed as a psychologist in the State of Oklahoma or able to obtain licensure in the State of Oklahoma
Experience Requirements
- Completion of a predoctoral, APA-accredited internship
- Specialized training in psychology, including a postdoctoral residency/fellowship
- 0 - 3 years’ experience, including postdoctoral training
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements
- Be eligible for faculty appointment at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
- Have knowledge of evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention, and
- consultation
- Have an interest in training/supervision of trainees in psychology and other disciplines
- Have experience in research, program development, and/or quality improvement
