Pediatric Sub-Specialty Faculty & Rady Children’s Health-Orange County are seeking an experienced advanced practice provider or physician within the Division of Critical Care to function as a frontline provider within the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU). This position may be filled by an experienced pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or physician who has completed training in General Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, or Pediatric Cardiology and is interested in a frontline clinical role within the CVICU.
The successful candidate will work as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary cardiac critical care team caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease, including cardiac medical patients and patients before and after cardiac surgery or cardiac catheterization.
Rady Children’s Health-Orange County (RCHOC) is a Level I Trauma Hospital with a new, state-of-the-art, 24-bed CVICU with 4 rooms designed to support ECMO and operative procedures.

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Candidate Qualifications
Physician Frontline Provider: Candidates must have completed an accredited general pediatrics residency and be board-eligible or board-certified in general pediatrics; or have completed fellowship training in pediatric critical care medicine or pediatric cardiology and be board-eligible or board-certified in their respective subspecialty.
Candidates should demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, teamwork, and an interest in caring for medically and surgically complex pediatric cardiac patients.
Under the direction of the CVICU attending physician and within the defined scope of the position, the frontline provider will evaluate and manage cardiac medical patients as well as pre- and post-operative and post-catheterization cardiac patients. The provider will participate in daily rounds, develop and implement plans of care, perform appropriate procedures within their scope and privileges, respond to changes in clinical status, and provide continuity of care throughout the patient’s CVICU course.
The frontline provider functions in close collaboration with CVICU attending physicians, cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, nurses, advanced practice providers, fellows, residents, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary cardiac team, while also providing consultation and education to patients and their families.
In 2023 CHOC began a unique collaboration with UCLA Health that will enhance access to world-class pediatric cardiac and cardiothoracic care for children and their families across Southern California. Our joint pediatric heart program, led by Dr. Glen Van Arsdell, will become a leading destination for diagnosing and treating the full spectrum of congenital and acquired heart disease. Together, we will help attract the nation’s top experts, while retaining the leading physicians and staff at both of our institutions. We will also partner to advance innovation, research and education.

CHOC opened its new, state-of-the-art 24-bed CVICU in February 2025.
