We are seeking an Anatomic Pathologist for a hospital-based locum opportunity in Georgetown, South Carolina, with a likely clinical start in November 2026. This assignment is covering an FMLA/leave of absence and offers a consistent weekday schedule with no call, no autopsies, and no Clinical Pathology responsibilities.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • 1-hour unpaid lunch

  • No telehealth

Practice Setting

  • Hospital-based Pathology/Laboratory setting
  • Anatomic Pathology
  • No autopsies
  • No Trauma designation
  • Epic EMR
  • Academic Medical Center experience not required

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Examine biopsy specimens
  • Examine surgical specimens
  • Gross and microscopic examination
  • Interpret cytology specimens, including Pap smears, FNA, and body fluids
  • Perform frozen sections
  • Diagnose pathologic findings and provide final interpretations
  • Bone marrow and lymph node evaluation for hematologic disorders preferred

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board Eligible within 5 years accepted
  • Fellowship training required
  • Anatomic Pathology experience required
  • Epic experience required
  • Prior locum/travel experience not required
  • South Carolina medical license requirement was not specified

Credentialing

  • Approximately 90 days

Ideal Candidate

An Anatomic Pathologist with fellowship training who is comfortable independently evaluating surgical pathology and cytology specimens, performing frozen sections, and providing final interpretations. Experience with bone marrow and lymph node evaluation is preferred. This opportunity is particularly well suited for a physician seeking a Monday–Friday schedule with no call, no autopsies, and no Clinical Pathology coverage.
