Pathology Associates of Fredericksburg is an independent pathology group affiliated with Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital a 571-bed regional medical center, delivering comprehensive anatomic and clinical pathology services. Our team manages a wide range of surgical specimens, cytology, bone marrow, and full-service clinical laboratory testing. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the autonomy of a group practice while collaborating closely with a well-respected hospital and experienced lab staff.
Job Responsibilities
• AP/CP Role: Evaluate surgical pathology specimens, FNAs, medical cytology, bone marrow, and CSF; provide oversight and consultation in clinical laboratory medicine
• Diverse Case Mix: High-volume GI and prostate specimens, breast, routine tissue, skin biopsies, FNAs, pleural fluids, and routine cytology
• Supportive Staff: Histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, grossing technician, lab assistants, and administrative support
• Clinical Pathology Opportunities: Chemistry, hematology, microbiology, transfusion medicine, and laboratory consultation
• Collaborative Environment: Participate in tumor boards, case conferences, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Qualifications
• MD or DO degree with AP/CP residency
• Board-certified or board-eligible in AP/CP
• Virginia State medical license (or eligibility)
• Strong interest in both anatomic and clinical pathology
• Ability to thrive in a team-based, collaborative environment while enjoying group practice autonomy
• Pathologists share rotating on-call responsibilities, with opportunities for flexible scheduling to support work-life balance.
• Candidates with several years of post-training experience are preferred; however, qualified candidates at all career stages are encouraged to apply.
