Job description
We are seeking a Pediatric Neuropathologist for a permanent leadership position in Washington, DC. This is a dual appointment combining directorship of neuropathology services with a named endowed chair leading a molecular neuropathology research program. Please see below for more information.
- Director of Neuropathology within the Division of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine
- Endowed Chair in Molecular Neuropathology, leading a research team studying the molecular basis of pediatric brain tumors
- Academic appointment at the rank of Associate or full Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Quaternary care academic pediatric hospital
- Level I trauma center with cardiac and pediatric intensive care units
Job Responsibilities
Work with division faculty, the Division Chief, and oncology leadership to expand clinical diagnostic capability for neurological disorders, particularly molecularly based diagnostics
Lead a research team and program investigating the molecular basis of pediatric brain tumors
Collaborate with investigators and program leadership within an established pediatric brain tumor program to advance diagnosis and treatment of children with brain cancer
Teach and mentor trainees and junior faculty
Qualifications
Board certified or board eligible in Neuropathology, with completion of a fellowship or advanced training in Neuropathology
Prior successful grant funding in molecular biology, neuro-oncology, and neuropathology required
A record of academic publication in brain cancer required
District of Columbia medical license required; candidates who need to obtain licensure will be considered
