Job description
We are seeking a Pediatric Neuropathologist for a permanent academic leadership position in Washington, DC, serving as Director of Neuropathology and Endowed Chair in Molecular Neuropathology at a quaternary care academic pediatric hospital. The successful applicant will be recommended for appointment as an Associate or full Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. - 313-bed quaternary care academic pediatric hospital (Children’s National Hospital)
- Level I trauma center, top-rated NICU, and Cardiac and Pediatric Intensive Care Units
- Leadership of neuropathological services within the Division of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine
- Endowed Chair leading a research program on the molecular basis of pediatric brain tumors within the Brain Tumor Institute
- Academic appointment at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences
Job Responsibilities
• Serve as Director of Neuropathology, supporting increased availability of clinical diagnostics for neurological disorders (particularly molecularly based)
• As Endowed Chair in Molecular Neuropathology, lead a research team studying the molecular basis of pediatric brain tumors
• Collaborate with Brain Tumor Institute leaders to improve diagnostics and treatment for children with brain cancer
• Teach and mentor within an academic environment
Qualifications
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neuropathology, with completed fellowship or advanced training in Neuropathology
• DC license required (willing to accept candidates who need to be licensed)
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Prior successful grant funding in molecular biology, neuro-oncology, and neuropathology required
• Record of academic publication in brain cancer required
• Excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative attitude
