Job description

Pain Management Physician - Goodyear, AZ

We are looking for a Pain Management Physician who wants a procedure-forward outpatient practice in Goodyear, with real autonomy over the treatment plan from first consultation through intervention. If you already evaluate and treat acute and chronic pain confidently and perform your own in-office procedures, your residency pathway matters less to us than your procedural skill - a Pain Medicine fellowship is welcome but not required.

Overview & Highlights:

  • Location: Goodyear, AZ - a fast-growing community on the west side of the Phoenix metro area, with newer housing, easy freeway access and shorter commutes than the urban core
  • Specialty: Pain Management - outpatient, interventional and in-office procedural practice
  • Schedule: Full-time; the day-to-day clinic template is reviewed during the interview process
  • Compensation: $300,000 - $400,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Benefits: Reviewed during the interview process
  • Position Type: Direct-hire, employed physician role
  • Experience: Demonstrated pain management and in-office interventional experience is required; anesthesiology training or Pain Medicine fellowship completion is welcome but not required

Location & Logistics:

  • Work Environment: On-site outpatient practice in Goodyear, AZ - clinic consultations alongside a dedicated in-office procedure schedule
  • Coverage Model or Hours: Full-time; the exact clinic and procedure-day structure is reviewed during the interview process
  • Travel: Reviewed during the interview process
  • Call Expectations: Reviewed during the interview process
  • Start Timeline: We are hiring for the right long-term fit and can be flexible on timing. We welcome physicians who are available to start immediately, as well as those considering a planned transition over the next 12-24 months.

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

Your day runs on two tracks. One is the clinic: new consultations and follow-ups for patients living with acute and chronic pain, where you take the history, examine, order and read the imaging you need, and build a plan. The other is procedures: epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation and the other office-based interventions your training and privileges support.

The procedural scope is the point of this role. Fluoroscopy-guided spinal injections and nerve blocks are routine here, and there is a clear route to advanced minimally invasive work - spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation and endoscopic pain procedures - for physicians who already have that experience or want to use it.

Clinically, the range is broad: spinal pain, radiculopathy, neuropathy, joint pain and musculoskeletal disorders. Most plans end up multimodal, combining interventional therapy with medication management and conservative treatment, and you will be the one deciding that mix, monitoring whether it is working and adjusting it. Patient education is a real part of the work - explaining options, setting procedural expectations and talking honestly about long-term pain management.

You will not be doing it alone. This is an established practice with experienced clinical support staff, referring physicians and colleagues in other specialties to coordinate with, and documentation handled in the electronic medical record rather than carried home.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Fellowship is not a gate - demonstrated pain management experience and strong procedural hands count for more here than the training pathway you took to get them
  • A genuinely procedure-forward practice: fluoroscopy-guided spinal injections and nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, and room for advanced work such as spinal cord stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation where training and privileges allow
  • Outpatient only - consultations and office-based procedures, with no inpatient rounding service
  • Autonomy over the treatment plan: you set the balance of interventional, pharmacologic and conservative care for each patient
  • Experience in minimally invasive spine or endoscopic pain procedures is welcome and put to use rather than parked
  • An established practice with experienced clinical support and colleagues in other specialties to refer to and work alongside

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions
  • Perform specialized pain management procedures and in-office interventions based on clinical indication and demonstrated competency
  • Deliver interventional treatments including epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks and radiofrequency ablation
  • Perform or assist with advanced minimally invasive pain procedures - including spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation and endoscopic procedures - as appropriate to training and privileges
  • Develop individualized treatment plans combining interventional therapy, medication management and conservative options
  • Diagnose and manage spinal pain, radiculopathy, neuropathy, joint pain and musculoskeletal disorders
  • Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and other relevant studies
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust plans to improve patient outcomes
  • Educate patients on treatment options, procedural expectations and long-term pain management strategies
  • Coordinate care with referring physicians, specialists and clinical support staff
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Work within clinical protocols, patient safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in a relevant medical specialty
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in specialized pain management and in-office interventional procedures
  • Strong procedural skills and confidence performing outpatient pain management treatments
  • Active Arizona medical license, or eligibility to obtain one
  • Active DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain one
  • Board certification or board eligibility in a relevant medical specialty
  • Ability to independently assess patients, develop treatment plans and perform procedures within your own training and privileges
  • Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills, with a commitment to patient-focused care
  • A Pain Medicine fellowship, Pain Medicine certification and an anesthesiology background are all welcome, and none of them is required

Apply For Consideration:

If you are a physician who already does this work - interventional pain management, specialized treatments and in-office procedures - we would like to talk. Apply with your most current CV or resume for confidential consideration. We welcome physicians from a range of clinical training backgrounds who bring strong procedural competency and a commitment to excellent patient care.
