Job description
We are seeking a Pain Management physician for a hospital-based practice in the NY metro area. This role is open due to the pending retirement of the current pain physician. The position involves outpatient chronic pain management with no hospital or procedural work.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who conduct initial patient visits, order MRIs, and coordinate the second-visit evaluation.
- Establish treatment plans while Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants manage all follow-up visits, ongoing assessments, and narcotic prescribing.
- Ensure all patients undergo drug screening with a strict zero-tolerance policy.
- Work with a seasoned team of Medical Assistants who handle patient intake and drug screens.
- Clinic operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Manage an expected patient volume of 15–20 patients per day.
- Utilize the EPIC EMR system for all patient records and documentation.
Requirements
- Pain Management fellowship-trained physician (Can be PMR, Anesthesia, or ED residency).
- Must have a clean DEA and be fully comfortable/experienced in prescribing narcotics.
- Prior experience with chronic pain patients required; formal pain-clinic background strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage medication plans and monitor compliance within a structured, safety-driven practice.
- Strong communication skills and ability to maintain continuity with a long-standing patient panel.
