Build your career in medical optometry alongside an experienced ophthalmology team—with a weekday clinical schedule and opportunities to follow patients through their medical and surgical care.

NorTek Medical Staffing is recruiting a full-time Optometrist for an established, multispecialty ophthalmology practice serving the Tampa area. This opportunity combines comprehensive eye care, ocular disease management, contact lens services, and surgical co-management in a collaborative clinical environment.

If you enjoy the medical side of optometry, value close collaboration with surgical specialists, and want a role that extends beyond routine examinations, this position deserves a conversation.

The Opportunity

Join a team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and clinical professionals committed to compassionate care and strong patient outcomes. You will evaluate new and established patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and support continuity of care across comprehensive eye examinations, medical management, and surgical follow-up.

Position highlights:

  • Full-time, permanent, on-site opportunity.

  • Monday–Friday clinical schedule.

  • No regularly scheduled evenings, weekends, or holidays.

  • Rotating on-call responsibilities.

  • Base salary determined by experience, plus a 20% bonus opportunity.

  • Medical optometry and surgical co-management within an integrated OD/MD setting.

  • Comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Your Clinical Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations, assessing visual function, refractive needs, and ocular health.

  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases within your training, credentials, and authorized scope of practice.

  • Review patient histories and diagnostic findings to develop appropriate treatment and follow-up plans.

  • Provide contact lens fittings, evaluations, and ongoing care.

  • Co-manage cataract, refractive, glaucoma, and cornea patients alongside the ophthalmology team.

  • Provide preoperative and postoperative optometric care consistent with the surgical treatment plan.

  • Monitor clinical progress, communicate significant findings, and coordinate appropriate referrals.

  • Educate patients about diagnoses, treatment options, eye health, and follow-up recommendations.

  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic medical records.

  • Collaborate with technicians and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.

  • Travel between assigned practice locations and participate in rotating on-call coverage.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution.

  • Active Florida optometry license or ability to obtain licensure before starting.

  • 1–10 years of professional optometry experience.

  • Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic skills, and patient communication.

  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, collaborative medical practice.

  • Commitment to patient safety, clinical quality, and professional standards.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Medical optometry, particularly in an integrated OD/MD practice.

  • Ocular disease management.

  • Cataract, refractive, glaucoma, and cornea surgical co-management.

  • Collaboration with ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Experience-based base salary.

  • Additional 20% bonus opportunity, subject to the practice’s compensation plan.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Life and disability insurance.

  • Paid time off.

  • 401(k) with employer matching.

  • Professional development and career growth opportunities.
