Orthopedic Surgeon

A well-established orthopedic group is seeking a Sports Medicine–trained Orthopedic Surgeon to replace a departing physician. This role offers a high-volume environment with flexibility to build a balanced sports practice covering both upper and lower extremities. The incoming surgeon will experience strong demand in NYC and significant growth opportunity in Englewood, NJ. The position provides a mix of clinic and OR duties, competitive compensation with aggressive upside, and the flexibility to work across New York and/or New Jersey depending on candidate interest.

Responsibilities

• Replace a departing surgeon with an expected start date in June.
• Work across multiple locations including Queens, Brooklyn, and Englewood, NJ.
• Build a practice focusing on both upper and lower extremity sports cases.
• Manage a patient mix of 50% workers’ compensation and 50% private patients.
• Conduct high-volume clinic days seeing 30–50 patients per day.
• Perform surgeries with PA support available in the OR; optional PA/APP support in the clinic.
• Utilize eClinicalWorks (eCW) for electronic medical records.
• Collaborate with a team-oriented approach, working with extenders in the OR and optionally in the clinic.

Requirements

• Board-certified or board-eligible Orthopedic Surgeon.
• Sports Medicine fellowship strongly preferred.
• Comfortable with upper and lower extremity sports cases.
• Ability to manage high-volume clinic days.
• Willingness to work across multiple sites in NY and/or NJ.
• Strong surgical skillset with the ability to scale OR volume.
• Team-oriented with comfort working with extenders in OR and optionally in clinic.

This is a high-demand role due to the departure of an existing surgeon, with the practice already extremely busy. The NYC side offers turnkey, immediate volume with no ramp-up issues, while the NJ side presents a significant growth opportunity as the practice looks to expand. Compensation includes a strong upside with a favorable bonus structure. OR support is built-in, and office extender use is flexible. Leadership is open to all geographic combinations.
