Job description
We are seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon for a locum tenens position in Cottonwood, AZ. This opportunity provides 24-hour beeper call coverage at an acute care hospital, with short block needs in August and September. Please see below for more information.
• Adult Level IV acute care hospital
• EMR: Cerner
• Adult Level IV acute care hospital
• EMR: Cerner
Job Responsibilities
Manage adult orthopedic consults and surgical cases as needed
Cover hospital and clinic responsibilities during assigned call periods
Average approximately 2 surgical cases per day
Manage approximately 6 new consults per day
Support minimal PM coverage needs, especially after 10:00p
Perform orthopedic procedures, including management of pelvic and acetabular fractures
Pediatric coverage noted as part of special procedures/skills
Work with available OR scrub tech support for case completion
Qualifications
Active Arizona license preferred; IMLC Letter of Qualification may be considered
DEA required
BLS required
Minimum 1 year of experience required
Comfort with pelvic and acetabular fracture management preferred
Working Hours
Shift time: 7:00a–7:00a
Current coverage blocks:
• August 7, 7:00a – August 10, 7:00a
• September 28, 7:00a – October 1, 7:00a
Facility & Practice Details
Practice setting: Hospital and clinic
Patient population: Adults
Support staff: APP first assist not available; scrub techs available in OR
Average surgical cases: 2 per day
Average new consults: 6 per day
Minimal PM coverage needs, especially after 10:00p

Credentialing timeframe: 21 days
