Credentialing

• Temporary privileges available for candidates with clean background
• 30–90 days for standard credentialing (if malpractice history present)

Schedule

• 2 weeks per month of block coverage
• Daily 10–14 hour onsite shifts
• Rotating 24-hour orthopedic trauma call while on service

Shift Structure:

• 1 surgeon onsite: longer shifts
• 2 surgeons: ~14-hour shifts
• 3 surgeons: ~10-hour shifts

Clinical Scope

• Outpatient clinic, inpatient coverage, and OR responsibilities
• Elective orthopedic cases
• Post-operative and follow-up care
• Outpatient consultations
• Inpatient trauma coverage
• On-call orthopedic trauma responsibilities

Patient Volume

• ~3–5 elective cases per week

Procedures

Focus includes:

• Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA)
• Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA)
• Joint replacement (adult total joints)
• Partial knee replacements (possible)
• Basic revision procedures (limited complexity)
• Acute fracture care and trauma cases

Cerner

Licensure

• Nevada medical license preferred
• IMLC accepted
• Will consider candidates needing licensure based on experience

Certifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery

Requirements

• Experience in arthroscopy, joint replacement, and fracture care
• Ability to manage both elective and inpatient/trauma cases
• Must be able to provide 12 months of recent case logs

Job Description

Seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to provide locum coverage at a rural Nevada hospital. Provider will deliver a mix of elective orthopedic procedures and acute inpatient trauma care, including joint replacement and fracture management. This role offers block scheduling with a combination of clinic, OR, and call responsibilities in a hands-on, surgeon-led care environment.
