This 127-bed Level III Trauma center is the largest hospital on the Southern Coast of Oregon with a catchment area of over 320,000 residents. The facility features a collaborative, growing Orthopedic service line with a high caliber, collegial team committed to serving the community with excellence.
Opportunity:
Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Orthopedic
Job Details:
• Full-time hospital-employed position with day shift plus on-call rotation shared equitably • Opening due to growth and expansion of services • Work closely with surgeons from South Coast Orthopedic Associates • Responsibilities include surgical assist, ED consults, floor rounding, pre and post op care, and patient education • Order tests, review labs, prescribe medications, write progress and discharge notes • Custom orientation adapted to your skills • PAs are assigned to a pool of 2-3 surgeons • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams • Formulate treatment plans for orthopedic problems within scope of practice • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures • Perform procedures including digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and minor outpatient surgical procedures • Conduct joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures, injections, and cast/splint applications • Assist in surgery including first assist, tissue closures, and application of appliances • Serve as primary orthopedic call for patients in the Emergency Department and inpatient units • Evaluate and implement treatment plans for hospitalized patients • Prescribe medications, orthosis, braces, and other orthopedic devices • Utilize Epic electronic medical record for documentation and order entry • Participate in multidisciplinary rounding and quality/safety initiatives • New graduates and experienced providers considered (experience preferred) • Must have Oregon license or be willing to obtain one • Board Certification required
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
