Position Overview

A growing, physician-owned orthopedic practice is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to provide specialized care at a Level II Trauma Center.

This opportunity is ideal for a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with expertise in acute orthopedic surgery and the treatment of complex traumatic injuries. The incoming physician will work alongside specialists in emergency medicine, critical care, neurosurgery, and orthopedic surgery to deliver coordinated, high-quality trauma care.

The practice includes 16 providers and serves as a leading regional resource for orthopedic trauma, joint replacement, spine care, sports medicine, hand and wrist care, foot and ankle care, regenerative medicine, and general orthopedics.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide surgical and non-surgical care for patients with traumatic orthopedic injuries.
• Evaluate and manage complex orthopedic trauma cases in a Level II Trauma Center.
• Perform urgent and emergent orthopedic procedures in high-acuity situations.
• Participate in a shared orthopedic trauma call rotation.
• Coordinate perioperative and postoperative care.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on injury severity and patient needs.
• Collaborate with emergency medicine, critical care, neurosurgery, orthopedic, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in trauma quality-improvement, registry, and patient-safety initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Support resident and medical-student education when applicable.
• Remain current on advances in orthopedic trauma and acute orthopedic care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, referring physicians, and clinical teams.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Orthopedic Trauma fellowship training strongly preferred and may be required based on credentialing standards.
• Active Florida medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Current ATLS certification.
• ATLS Instructor certification preferred.
• Strong surgical skills and clinical judgment.
• Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to patient-centered care and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Preferred Experience

• At least two years of post-fellowship orthopedic trauma experience.
• Previous experience in a Level II Trauma Center.
• Experience with trauma registries and quality-improvement programs.
• Knowledge of American College of Surgeons trauma verification standards.
• Experience participating in patient-safety initiatives.
• Experience teaching residents or medical students.

Schedule and Call

• Full-time schedule.
• Shared orthopedic trauma call rotation.
• Call coverage includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility and responsiveness are required in this high-acuity trauma environment.
