Job description
Aya Locums is seeking a Sports Medicine Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeon for locum tenens coverage at a Level II Trauma Center located just outside of Chicago.
This is a well-balanced opportunity offering a mix of clinic, OR time, and shared call within a collaborative orthopedic team. Ideal candidates will have strong experience in sports medicine procedures and arthroscopy.
Job Responsibilities
Perform sports medicine procedures including ACL/MCL/PCL repairs, meniscus, and ligament reconstructions
Perform hip arthroscopy and multi-ligament procedures (required)
Manage inpatient consults, rounding, and post-op care
Participate in shared call rotation with orthopedic team
Collaborate with APPs who assist in OR and handle first call support
Qualifications
Experience with hip arthroscopy and multi-ligament procedures REQUIRED
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Active Illinois license or IMLC accepted
DEA required
Working Hours
2 OR days per week: 7:30 AM start (flexible scheduling)
Weekend call: 1 in 7 (Friday 5 PM – Monday 7 AM)
Weeknight call: Shared among 6 surgeons (varies; some weeks none, some 1 night)
Skills
Proficiency in arthroscopy and complex ligament repairs
Ability to manage clinic volume (25–30 patients/day)
Team-oriented with excellent communication
