Job description
A well-established, multispecialty ophthalmology organization with more than 25 years of experience is seeking an experienced Refractive & Cataract Surgeon to join its growing surgical team in Florida.
The practice has multiple established locations, including Sebring, Gainesville, and the Tampa market, and operates within a collaborative MD/OD care model.
This is a growth-critical opportunity with immediate surgical volume and an established patient base. The incoming surgeon will have the opportunity to build upon an existing surgical practice while contributing to continued organizational expansion.
Clinical Focus
The practice is seeking a surgeon with strong experience in cataract and refractive surgery, including:
- Cataract and refractive cataract surgery
- Premium and advanced-technology IOLs
- Laser vision correction
- LASIK
- PRK
- SMILE
- Implantable Collamer Lenses
- Traditional and laser-assisted cataract surgery
- Comprehensive ophthalmic care
- Advanced vision-correction procedures
This is primarily a cataract and refractive opportunity and is not a retina-focused position.
Job Responsibilities
Perform cataract, refractive cataract, and laser vision-correction procedures.
Evaluate candidates for premium lenses and advanced refractive technologies.
Manage patients through the complete preoperative and postoperative process.
Monitor surgical outcomes and modify treatment plans when clinically appropriate.
Educate patients regarding treatment options, risks, expectations, and anticipated outcomes.
Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmologists, technicians, nurses, and other clinical professionals.
Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.
Stay current with developments in cataract surgery, refractive technology, premium IOLs, and vision-correction procedures.
Contribute to the continued clinical growth of the practice.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree
Completion of an accredited ophthalmology residency
Board Certification in Ophthalmology
Minimum 3 years of post-training ophthalmology experience
Fellowship training strongly preferred
Demonstrated cataract and/or refractive surgical experience
Experience with laser vision correction and premium IOL technology strongly preferred
Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain one promptly
Strong surgical skills and clinical judgment
Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within an integrated MD/OD practice model
Experienced surgeons are preferred; new graduates are not currently being targeted.
Schedule & Call
Monday–Friday
Approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM clinic schedule
Surgical days may begin around 6:30 AM
No regularly scheduled evenings
No weekend shifts
No holiday shifts
Limited call responsibilities via remote telephone/mobile coverage
Compensation & Benefits
$425,000 guaranteed base salary
30% of collections

Interview Process
The typical process includes:
Initial interview with Human Resources
Interview with the organization’s President
On-site visit and clinical shadowing
For strongly aligned candidates, the organization may move from the later interview stages to a verbal offer within approximately one week.
